Artpoint Appointed for the Ashford Commercial Quarter Masterplan(01/03/2010)

Artpoint has been appointed by SEEDA as the public art consultant for the Commercial Quarter redevelopment in Ashford, Kent.

The project which was launched at the start of 2010 involves several different agencies working as part of the design team. The project focuses on the redevelopment of Dover Place, an area which between now and 2021, is expected to attract major private sector inward investment and be responsible for the delivery of a significant amount of new jobs.

This project will produce a Design Brief and a Development Brief for the redevelopment of the area.  The scheme options will focus on the creation of a mixed use redevelopment package, which is to include retail, leisure, commercial floor space, residential accommodation and public realm with the emphasis on commercial floor space. As part of the project the feasibility of creating a cultural/creative hub within the development is to be explored.

Artpoint’s role within this wider programme is to act as the lead artist and Creative Consultant in the overall design process. Artpoint will be providing feasibility studies for public realm creative interventions and will produce an initial arts strategy for the Quarter.
