Kenilworth : Dream Catcher(10/12/2008)

Warwickshire County Council has commissioned Artpoint to develop a Public Art Vision and Action Plan for Kenilworth.

As part of this project, Artpoint is undertaking in depth consultation with key stakeholders in the town and is using creative consultation techniques involving specially designed consultation packs which are being sent to local schools and community groups. This new project engages directly with the people of Kenilworth. The aim of this project is to encourage every person it touches to think creatively and imaginatively about their environment.

As part of the creative consultation process, Artpoint has invited artist Jo Roberts to take up the challenge of becoming a ‘Dream Catcher’ for a day. Armed with a giant butterfly net, Jo Roberts’ mission is to travel around town catching people’s dreams on her customised bike.

Jo will collect the personal dreams and visions for Kenilworth from the people she meets, and will talk to them about the kind of artwork they might like to see in the town. Jo will record the town’s hopes, dreams and aspirations and her collection will be used by Artpoint as they develop the vision for public art in Kenilworth.

Kenilworth : Dream Catcher provides a fascinating insight into the heart of a community and a reflection of how that community views its town, both now and in the future.
