Greyworld at Hampton Court Maze(23/03/2005)

The Historic Royal Palaces have commissioned Greyworld to create a permanent installation for the famous maze at Hampton Court. The commission will form part of a wider project to transform visitors' experience of the maze, which will include improving its infrastructure and the redesign of its entrance. Greyworld are creating a soundpiece which draws on the maze's history and the nostalgic idea of furtive conversation and flirtation. Visitors will be tempted to follow the gentle call of birdsong, the seductive rustling of silk or tantalising laughter as it disappears around a corner into a dead-end. The work opens to the public on 6 May.
